Days 1–2

The things clients ask most — pain, redness, downtime, aftercare and how it compares to laser.
Does microneedling hurt?
For most clients it's very manageable. We apply a numbing cream for about 20 minutes before we begin, so the treatment usually feels like a light vibration or mild prickling rather than pain. Sensitive areas — around the nose and the forehead — can feel a little more, and we adjust the depth to keep you comfortable throughout.
How long is my face red after microneedling?
Expect a flushed, sunburn-like look for the first 12 to 48 hours — this is a normal, expected part of the process and settles quickly. Many clients are comfortable wearing tinted SPF or mineral makeup by the next day. The PDRN Salmon DNA and take-home healing cream help calm that redness faster.
Is there any downtime with microneedling?
It's a low-downtime treatment — most people go back to normal activities the same or next day. You may notice mild redness, tightness and light flaking over the following few days as your skin renews. There are no needles left in the skin and nothing injected, so there's no bruising to recover from.
What should I avoid after microneedling?
For the first 24–48 hours, avoid makeup, active ingredients (retinol, vitamin C, exfoliating acids), saunas, hot yoga, swimming and heavy sweating, and don't pick or scratch the skin. Keep it clean, hydrated and protected — daily SPF is essential while your skin renews. We send you home with an aftercare kit and a simple checklist.
How many microneedling sessions do I need?
For most concerns we recommend a series of 4 to 6 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart — the spacing gives collagen time to remodel between visits. You'll often see a glow after the first session, with texture, scarring and tone continuing to improve across the series. Maintenance sessions every few months keep the results going.
Microneedling vs laser — what's the difference?
Laser resurfacing uses heat or light energy to renew the skin, while microneedling works purely mechanically — fine needles create micro-channels that trigger your own collagen. Because there's no heat or light, microneedling carries far less risk of pigment changes, which makes it one of the safest collagen treatments for deeper skin tones (types I–VI). At SKINX we also infuse PDRN Salmon DNA and optional exosome serums during microneedling — regenerative boosters lasers alone don't deliver. We'll help you choose the right option at your free consultation.
Are the exosomes and Salmon DNA injected?
No. At SKINX, exosomes and PDRN Salmon DNA are cosmetic serums applied topically to the skin's surface immediately after microneedling — while the micro-channels are open — never injected. It's a non-invasive, cosmetic skin-renewal step, not an injectable procedure.
How much does microneedling cost in Ajax?
