Laser Hair Removal · Brazilian · Ajax, Ontario
The end of the wax-shave-ingrown cycle
A Brazilian is the area people research the longest and book the fastest once they understand it: it is private, it is the area most prone to ingrowns and razor bumps, and it is where waxing hurts most. Laser disables the follicle itself, so after a full course there is nothing left to grow back and curl into the skin.
SKINX SPA is at 36 Salem Rd S, Unit B, Ajax — actually in Ajax, 5 minutes from Ajax GO, with free parking at the door. Every Brazilian session is performed by Papri, our female esthetician, on the SharpLight DPC Pro.
Coverage
What a Brazilian covers
Bikini line
Hair outside the underwear line only — the sides and the top edge. A quick tidy for swimsuit season.
Extended bikini
The bikini line plus a few centimetres inward and along the inner thigh, so no hair shows in a higher-cut swimsuit or underwear.
Brazilian
The full area, front to back: the pubic mound, labia and perianal area. Choose everything off, or keep a strip or triangle on the front — your call.
An honest note, because it is the question everyone has and nobody asks: a female esthetician performs every Brazilian at SKINX, in a private room, with professional draping — only the section being treated is uncovered. Full removal and a landing strip are the same price; just tell Papri what you want at your first visit.
How many sessions does a Brazilian take?
Plan on 6–8 sessions spaced about 6 weeks apart. The laser only disables a follicle in its active growth phase, and only a portion of the area is in that phase on any given day — so each visit catches a new batch. Most clients see roughly 25–30% less hair after the very first session, and by session 4 they are shaving once a month instead of every other day.
Hormones matter here more than anywhere else on the body. PCOS, thyroid changes, pregnancy and some medications can wake dormant follicles, which is why the honest term is “permanent hair reduction” rather than a promise that every hair is gone forever. If that applies to you, Papri will build a realistic plan and may suggest an occasional maintenance session down the road. Book 6 together and save 15%.
Does a Brazilian laser session hurt?
Each pulse feels like a quick warm snap — a small elastic band — and the SharpLight DPC Pro's sapphire cooling tip chills the skin at the same moment, so the sensation passes as fast as it arrives. The labia and perianal area are the most sensitive part and take under a minute. Nothing that reaches a follicle is completely comfortable, but the honest comparison from clients who have done both is that it is easier than a Brazilian wax — and it gets more comfortable each session as the hair thins.
Numbing cream is optional: tell us when you book and we will explain how and when to apply it. Coming in off caffeine, well hydrated and not on the first two days of your period all help too.
Prep & aftercare
Before and after your session
- Shave the area 24 hours before — the laser needs the root, not hair above the skin.
- No waxing, plucking, epilating or threading for 4 weeks before (and for the whole course).
- No sun, tanning beds or self-tanner on the area for 2 weeks before and after.
- Stop exfoliants, retinol and acids on the area 3 days before.
- Wear loose cotton underwear to your appointment and for the rest of the day.
- For 24 hours after: no gym, sauna, hot tub, hot bath or tight synthetic leggings.
- Mild redness or a warm feeling for a few hours is normal — a cool compress or aloe settles it.
Dark skin and coarse hair
The Brazilian area is where a laser's limits show up first: the hair is coarse and dark, and on Fitzpatrick IV–VI the skin around it carries pigment too. Older IPL machines cannot tell the two apart, which is where burns and dark patches come from — and where the “laser isn't for your skin type” line comes from. The SharpLight DPC Pro is Health Canada-licensed and FDA-cleared for Fitzpatrick I–VI: Dynamic Pulse Control shapes each pulse so the energy is absorbed by the hair shaft, and the sapphire cooling tip keeps the surface protected. Papri patch-tests deeper tones before a first full session, every time.
The payoff is biggest for exactly the clients who were told no. Coarse, curly hair is what causes ingrowns and razor bumps in the bikini area — it curls back into the skin after shaving or breaks under the surface after waxing. Once the follicle is disabled there is no hair to curl, so the bumps, the dark spots they leave behind and the picking all stop. Results vary from person to person.
Brazilian + underarms together
This is our most-booked pair, and for a reason: both are medium areas at $150 each, both are the coarse, dark hair that laser treats best, and both are the areas people shave most often. Underarms add about 10 minutes to the appointment, so a combined visit is still under half an hour. Read the details on our underarm laser hair removal page.

Questions
Brazilian Laser Hair Removal — FAQ
How much does Brazilian laser hair removal cost in Ajax?
$150 per session at SKINX SPA in Ajax — a Brazilian is a medium area. Book a course of 6 and save 15%. First-time clients can use the $100 first-session offer on a Brazilian. The consultation is a $25 deposit that is credited to your treatment.
How many sessions does a Brazilian need?
Plan on 6–8 sessions about 6 weeks apart. Laser only disables hair in its active growth phase, and only part of the area is in that phase at any time. Most clients see roughly 25–30% less hair after the first session and a dramatic reduction by session 6. Hormonal factors like PCOS can add a session or two.
Does Brazilian laser hair removal hurt?
It feels like a quick warm snap, and the SharpLight DPC Pro's sapphire cooling tip chills the skin with every pulse. The labia and perianal area are the most sensitive part and take under a minute. Most clients tell us it is easier than a Brazilian wax, and numbing cream is available if you want it.
Can I have a Brazilian laser session on my period, or while pregnant?
On your period, yes — wear a fresh tampon or menstrual cup and let Papri know; some clients find the area slightly more sensitive that week and prefer to rebook. While pregnant or breastfeeding, no — we pause laser until after, and resume the course where you left off.
Is Brazilian laser safe on dark skin?
Yes. The SharpLight DPC Pro is Health Canada-licensed and FDA-cleared for Fitzpatrick I–VI. Dynamic Pulse Control and the sapphire cooling tip protect the skin's pigment while the energy goes into the hair, and we patch-test deeper tones before the first full session.
Do I have to grow the hair out first?
No — the opposite. Shave the area 24 hours before every session. Laser needs a clean surface and a hair root under the skin; growing it out is a waxing rule, not a laser rule. Just do not wax, pluck or epilate, because those remove the root the laser is targeting.
How long does a Brazilian laser session take?
About 15–20 minutes in the treatment room. Add a few minutes at the start for a quick skin check and settings. Many clients book it on a lunch break.
Is it awkward? Who performs the treatment?
Every Brazilian at SKINX is performed by Papri, our female esthetician, in a private room with professional draping — only the section being treated is uncovered at any moment. You choose full removal or leave a strip or triangle; just tell Papri at your first visit.
